Bob Docherty joined the Inland Revenue in 1970 where he undertook a number of operational; technical & managerial roles before moving to the IT department in 1975 where he has remained ever since (well almost!). Worked mainly on the design & development of the major transactional taxation systems. Transferred to EDS under the Department’s Eagle outsourcing contract in 1996 where he worked in the Architect’s team, had a brief spell as Testing Director, before rising to the position of Technical Director for the account, running a team of around 100 architects.
