In fact, he has built his career around doing just that - and the more difficult people tell him it is to do the more he enjoys doing it. Most recently, he was recruited by B&Q to spearhead its business transformation efforts as it transforms the business to operate in an omnichannel world with the customer at the very heart of the business. In addition to this Transformational role he has been asked to lead and transform a number of functional areas within B&Q while directors were being recruited for the leadership roles. Prior to B&Q, he was asked to build out a £500M campus and corporate HQ for British Sky Broadcasting resulting in a 23% decrease in FM service costs and 25% performance improvement for the company as a whole. In addition, they were able to deliver the entire transformation at 60% of the planned £850M cost projection. The new facilities support 6,000 BSkyB employees. In each situation he served as a transformation leader and value creator driving growth, controlling costs, and delivering on complex global initiatives.

John A. Zachman is the originator of the "Framework for Enterprise Architecture" which has received broad acceptance around the world as an integrative framework, or "periodic table" of descriptive representations for Enterprises. He is not only known for this work on Enterprise Architecture, but is also known for his early contributions to IBMs Information Strategy methodology as well as to their Executive team planning techniques.  Mr. Zachman retired from IBM in 1990, having served them for 26 years. He is Chief Executive Officer of the Zachman Institute for Framework Advancement (ZIFA), an organization dedicated to advancing the conceptual and implementation states of the art in Enterprise Architecture. He also operates his own education and consulting business, Zachman International.
