Willie Appel has 20 years of experience in the information technology industry. Before joining META Group in July 1998, he was chief technology architect for the information technology division of Nedcor Bank, one of the four leading banks in South Africa. In this capacity, he was co-responsible for driving the technical architecture strategy for the company and its many diverse business units. Internet/e-commerce development, a key focus area for Nedcor Bank, was his responsibility and is an area that has elevated the bank to the number-one position in South Africa. He began his career with the country's Department of Post and Telecommunications, where he specialized in development of teletext networks and related telecommunications. Willie received a B.S. degree in Computer Network Sciences from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.

Most recently working as Technical Architect to the Life and then central UK Architecture teams. During this time his focus has been around message based architectures – now service based architectures – that allow integration across a diverse range of platforms to enable systems to be used for internal and external web enabled applications.

He has run 3 yearly Architecture projects in LTSB Insurance, around customer systems, and together with the partner IT architect created this combined business and IT architecture function.

Dave Harrison    Dave Harrison

Dave Harrison has worked in the IT Industry for over 30 years. During 22 years with IBM in programming, systems analysis and database administration on a variety of development projects, and latterly in technical support to the IBM sales force, he gained considerable experience in all aspects of the systems development life-cycle. More recently, David has worked for Ordnance Survey (OS) as a Senior Systems Development Consultant. In this role, he established the Design Authority and Enterprise Architecture Teams, and introduced the Dynamic Systems Development Method (DSDM). He was responsible for defining, promoting and advising on good design practice throughout OS, and acted as mentor in a number of DSDM projects. David is an experienced facilitator of JAD and modelling workshops; he has given many courses, bringing enthusiasm and a thorough and practical knowledge of modelling and systems development to his teaching; he is a strong presenter and frequently presents to groups such as the DSDM Consortium and the SA User Group; and he has long experience of using System Architect both in development projects and to support implementation of an Enterprise Architecture.

Dale Kutnick Beyond his responsibilities as META Group's chairman of the board, Mr. Kutnick directs all META Group research and analytic activities, which includes refining the research process and actively working with the research groups to develop Trend Teleconferences, Deltas, and Scenarios, and to manage quality control. Mr. Kutnick served as president and CEO of META Group from 1989 to 2002, and prior to co-founding META Group in January 1989, he was executive vice president of research at Gartner Group. Previously, he was executive director and a principal at Yankee Group, and a principal at Battery Ventures, a venture capital firm. Mr. Kutnick is a graduate of Yale University.

He is a member of the SAP AG Global Customer Council for Knowledge Management and a member of the expert panel that developed COBIT 3rd Edition management Guidelines

(Published – www.isaca.org) He assisted a global Life Sciences manufacturer to define their IT governance framework. He also helped a major financial institution to define Global, Regional and Local IT organisational design and strategy. He is also supporting a national electricity supplier on an Enterprise Architecture and Knowledge Management assignment – “the future towards Knowledge Management”.

John Zachman    John Zachman

John Zachman is the originator of the 'Framework for Enterprise Architecture', which has received broad acceptance around the world as an integrative framework or 'periodic table' of descriptive representations of Enterprises. He has been focusing on information strategy and architecture since 1970 and has written a number of articles on those subjects. John is retired from IBM, having served them for 26 years. He is Chief Executive Officer of the Zachman Institute for Framework Advancement (ZIFA), an organisation dedicated to advancing the conceptual and implementation states of the art in Enterprise Architecture. He also operates his own education and consulting business, Zachman International.
